Brief Introduction

Yuan Xiling, Born in 1971, Xi’an, is now working as a lecturer at department of College English, School of Foreign Languages, Northwest University, and serves for the Shaanxi Translation Association. She teaches two courses, “College English” and “Audio-visual Course of Western Culture”. Her main research focuses are English education, cross-cultural Communication and Snowology. In recent years, she has undertaken 4 web-based English teaching innovation projects, trained students how to express Shaanxi culture in English, and undertaken 3 academic research projects concerning internationalization of Shaanxi culture. She has published 18 research papers and co-compiled 3 College English textbooks. She was awarded the Teacher of Honor of Northwest University in 2009.

English education, cross-cultural Communication and Snowology.

Educational Background:

2010~till now,  Studies at Shanghai Foreign Languages University for PhD Degree.

2001.7,        Granted the Master’s Degree of Applied Linguistics, Northwest University.

1990.7~1994.7,  Studied at English Department, Northwest University.

Working Experiences:

2000.6,  Transferred to School of Foreign languages, and started to teach College English.

1999.11, got promoted to lecturer.

1994.7, Graduated from University, started working as an English teacher for the Shaanxi Teachers’ Training Center.

Teaching:

Two courses she teaches:

1.“College English”, which is the basic required language course for Chinese college students.

2.“Audio-visual Course of Western Culture”, which is one of the core courses of general education. 

  Two teaching research projects she has undertaken:

1.Digital learning resources construction for western cultural courses, granted by Northwest University, 2009.

2.Construction and application of multi-modal teaching approach to “Audio-visual Course of Western Culture”, granted by Northwest University, 2010.

One major research projects she has participated in:

Study on multi-modal approach to College English teaching, granted by Shaanxi Education Committee, 2009.
