On the afternoon of July 1st, the Summer Course of American Studies, held by the SFL of Nanjing University , sponsored by Northwestern University had a grand opening. Vice-Chancellor Professor Li Hao of NWU attended the opening ceremony and delivered the welcoming remarks, Professor Liu Haiping, Zhugang, the Dean of School of Foreign Languages of Nanjing University attended the ceremony and delivered speeches. Opening ceremony was hosted by Dean Professor Cui Yaping.
The Institute program has three years, two for every year. It aims to promote the teaching and learning of the American Studies, to promote Sino-US cultural exchanges and to cultivate faculties for the American literature, history, social and cultural courses.
This year is the second year of implementation of the scheme.50 English teachers of more than 20 colleges from China's western region participated in the training. American Professor Joel Pfister and professor Steven Conn students as the speaker are going to teach the student for half of a month.
