The 26th “FLTRP National Talent Cup”English Debate Competition Campus Selection concludes successfully

On March 11, 2024, the three-day campus selection for the 26th “Foreign Language Teaching and Research Press· National Talent Cup” National College English Debate Competition at Northwest University came to a successful conclusion. The competition was conducted in a combination of online and offline formats, with 24 contestants from various departments of Northwest University including the School of Foreign Languages, School of Economics & Management, College of Urban and Environmental Science, Law School, School of Journalism & Communication, School of Software, School of Chemical Engineering, and School of Mathematics participating in the event. All these contestants were divided into 12 teams. The judging panel consisted of two teachers from the School of Foreign Languages at Northwest University, Xuan Jing and Ma Li, as well as 11 debate team captains from several universities including Sun Yat-sen University, Guangdong University of Foreign Studies, Tianjin Foreign Studies University, and Xi'an University of Finance and Economics.

      After fierce competition, Sun Hanyu and Zhong Zhixiao from the School of Economics and Management won the championship in the final. They will represent Northwest University in the upcoming regional finals of the 26th “Foreign Language Teaching and Research Press·National Talent Cup” National College English Debate Competition to be held in the Huaxi region in April this year.

The competition was filled with continuous excitement and climaxes occurred frequently on-site. The 24 contestants elaborated on their views on topics ranging from science and technology to humanities, society and media, fully demonstrating the solid English competence, broad international horizons, rich knowledge reserves, and excellent comprehensive qualities of Northwest University students. The judges' comments were detailed and sincere, providing valuable insights for both contestants and the audience and offering many enlightenments for students future learning.
