On the afternoon of April 18, our school held the second graduate supervisor meeting of this semester in the conference room on the fifth floor of the West Learning Building. The meeting was chaired by Dean Cao Ruonan.

First, the meeting invited Zhao Na, a supervisor in the English Translation major, to share her experience in applying for the National Social Science Fund's Post-Funding Program, which was successfully approved in 2023. She began by discussing the application requirements and provided a detailed analysis of the similarities and differences between the National Social Science Fund Post-Funding Program and other funding programs in terms of preliminary achievements, topic selection, and material preparation. As the first applicant from our school to be approved for the National Social Science Fund Post-Funding Program, she shared insights from her multiple application experiences and engaged in extensive discussions with the attending faculty on issues of interest.

Cao Ruonan, in line with the spirit of our university's research work meeting, mobilized and outlined key tasks for the 2024 National Social Science Fund project applications. She emphasized that research work is a critical indicator of a university's academic standing. The effective output of research, the orderly succession of research teams, and the strategic guidance of research directions are crucial for the long-term development of the school. She stressed that as the backbone of the school's research team, supervisors should align with national development strategies, leverage the momentum of regional and country-specific studies, harness team power, activate research resources, clarify research interests, define their roles, and seize developmental opportunities. By doing so, they can integrate personal career development with the school's discipline-building efforts and contribute to improving the research level of the school.
In addition, Dean Cao reported on the results of the 2019 cohort’s thesis quality checks and the thesis review status of the 2021 cohort. She reminded all supervisors to strictly monitor the quality of graduate theses, guiding and urging students to submit their theses according to the school’s deadlines and requirements, while continuously paying attention to the quality of the completed theses and the plagiarism check results. Finally, she informed the attendees about the thesis proposals for the 2022 cohort of professional master’s students and the recruitment situation for 2024, urging all supervisors to provide targeted guidance for students at different academic levels.
