Themed salon "Research on Innovative Cultivation of Russian Translation Talents in Multidisciplinary Perspective" successfully held

The salon on "Innovative Training of Russian Translation Talents from the Multidisciplinary Perspective" under the National Foreign Experts Project concluded successfully on December 1, 2023, at Room 6504, Chang'an Campus, Northwest University.

The salon featured Professor Gao Li from our school, who led the National Foreign Expert Project, and invited Russian expert Professor Natalia Tsareva (Наталья Ю. Царёва) from the Russian Language Center at Shaanxi Normal University and the Overseas Director of the Shaanxi Translators Association. Professor Natalia Tsareva specializes in Russian language pedagogics, Russian language and culture studies, and rhetorics. She has authored over 10 books and textbooks on Russian education and Chinese culture, and has published dozens of research papers. She has led National Social Science Fund of China and Silk Road Book Project, and facilitated the establishment of the only national Russian language center in Northwest China by the Russian World Foundation (Russkiy Mir Foundation). She has been honored with titles such as "Honorary Citizen of Xi'an", "Xi'an Friendship Award" and "Outstanding Foreign Teacher in Shaanxi Province".

The salon was chaired by Professor Gao Li, responsible for the National Foreign Experts Project, with simultaneous interpretation provided by Ms. Liu Hui from the Russian Department. Undergraduate and graduate students from multiple departments participated in the event.

The main topics of the salon revolved around "Cultural Comparison and Translation Talent Cultivation between China and Russia". Professor Tsareva vividly compared Chinese culture, Russian culture and Western culture, highlighting the similarities in values between Chinese and Russian cultures. Prof. Tsareva also elaborated on the influence of ancient Greek and other cultures on Russian culture, citing examples to show how the Russian language absorbs foreign words under influences from a diversity of cultures . During the Q&A session, Professor Tsaryova answered questions meticulously on cross-cultural communication between China and Russia.

Finally, the salon concluded with a group photo, marking the end of this session of the National Foreign Experts Project salon.
