The school-wide meeting was successfully held

On the afternoon of April 12, 2023, a school-wide meeting was held at the Lecture Hall of the Second Classroom in the School of Foreign Languages. Members of the school’s party and administrative leadership team, as well as all faculty and staff, attended the meeting. The meeting was chaired by Yang Ying, the Deputy Dean of Administration.

During the meeting, leaders in charge of various departments summarized, arranged, and deployed their respective areas of work.

Wang Jun, the Secretary of the Party Committee, reviewed and summarized the epidemic prevention and control work of the school. He also made arrangements and deployments for the central tasks of the Party Committee and the guidance of graduate employment and entrepreneurship for the current year. He emphasized that all faculty and staff should deeply study the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, solidly carry out the activities to improve cadre style and capability as required by the school’s Party Committee, conduct thematic education activities on studying and implementing Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, firmly adhere to the bottom line and red line of ethics and professional conduct, and strengthen the construction of ethics and professional conduct among teachers. Regarding employment and entrepreneurship guidance, he emphasized that the college should strengthen organizational leadership, continue to promote visits to enterprises to expand opportunities, deepen cooperation between the school and enterprises, expand employment resources, and effectively provide students with broader practical platforms and employment channels.

Li Mi, Deputy Dean of Teaching, reported on the ideological and political training of courses and conveyed the spirit of the recent round of undergraduate education and teaching evaluation work from the Ministry of Education. She elaborated on the relevant measures taken by the university and the school to encourage teachers to actively participate in competition guidance, project application, textbook writing, and other work.

Su Rui, Deputy Dean of Research, summarized the recent research work of the college. She mentioned that over the past few months, the school has upheld an organized research concept, organized several national-level project demonstrations focusing on literature, linguistics, and regional studies, completed multiple project applications, and concluded projects. She also pointed out the importance of organized research to create a good research atmosphere, demonstrate the academic level of the school, and expand its social influence.

Yang Ying, Deputy Dean of Administration, comprehensively summarized the administrative work of the college regarding personnel, finance, and materials, and reported on the progress of the “Grain Storage” plan. She also reviewed the achievements of the 120th-anniversary celebration of the university. Considering the actual situation of the school, she expressed the school’s commitment to continue improving service quality and efficiency, effectively addressing practical matters for faculty and staff.

Yuan Xiling, Chairman of the School Labor Union, reported on various cultural and sports activities, proposals from the Faculty and Staff Congress, and other progress related to union work. She stated that the school will consolidate the achievements of the “Home for Faculty and Staff” construction, actively carry out characteristic union activities, and provide meticulous services.

Finally, Dean Cao Ruonan made concluding remarks, further clarifying the future development direction of the school in terms of work discipline and discipline construction planning. She affirmed the efforts and achievements of the faculty on one hand and, on the other hand, using “Area Studies” as a starting point, elaborated on the significant opportunities and challenges facing the foreign language discipline. She encouraged teachers to build a research and teaching community through organized research. Emphasizing the need to adapt to change and seize opportunities, she highlighted the importance of the transition in area studies, synchronizing personal development with that of the university and the school, and jointly overcoming the challenges facing the development of the foreign language discipline. Based on the foundation of high-quality academic output and rich academic accumulation, she urged everyone to catch up with the fast lane, collaborate with the pace of the school’s discipline construction, and move forward together.

This meeting arranged and deployed the overall work of the school and determined its future development direction, played an active role in consolidating cohesion, enhanced the level of teaching and research of teachers, and promoted discipline development.
