On July 15th, taking the opportunity of the “Northwest University 1977, 1978, and 1979 Graduates 40th Anniversary Celebration”, the alumni from the School of Foreign Languages gathered at their alma mater. Members of the school’s leadership team, representatives of retired teachers, as well as representatives of young and middle-aged teachers, engaged in discussions with returning alumni, reminiscing about the past and discussing the future.
During the symposium, the Dean of the School, Cao Ruonan, first extended a warm welcome to the alumni present. She introduced the recent development characteristics of the school and the gratifying achievements made in various aspects such as institutional setup, professional characteristics, regional cultural research and teaching, and talent cultivation. She emphasized that alumni are the strong backing of the school, inviting them to visit frequently and actively participate in the construction and development of the school.
In response, the alumni expressed sincere blessings to their alma mater, offering suggestions and advice from the perspectives of discipline development, faculty construction, and other aspects. They provided constructive opinions and suggestions for foreign language teaching, student cultivation, scientific research, and discipline construction.
During the event, Wang Jun, the Secretary of the Party Committee of the School, presented the alumni with commemorative envelopes on behalf of the school. At the same time, representatives of the Class 1979 alumni presented flowers and blessings to retired teachers Li Tianshu and Wang Aifen.
On that day, the alumni also visited the school building, the Helen Snow photo exhibition, and the Agnes Smedley special exhibition, experiencing the new changes and achievements of the school’s development in recent years and praising the “new look” of the school.
Through this alumni reunion event, the school will continue to focus on uniting, serving, and supporting alumni, working together with them to promote the future development and construction of the school.
