On the afternoon of September 27, 2023, our school held a general meeting in the lecture hall of the Second Classroom. The school party and government leadership team, as well as all faculty and staff, attended the meeting. The meeting was chaired by Yang Ying, the Executive Vice Dean of the school.
During the meeting, leaders in charge of various departments of the school arranged key tasks for the current semester. Deputy Party Secretary Liu Jianbo elaborated on the ideological direction and specific arrangements for student work this semester, in line with the requirements of student work at the school and the actual situation of the school. He mobilized all faculty and staff regarding a series of tasks such as safety and stability, employment and further education, and student party building. Li Min, the Vice Dean of Teaching, introduced the school's adjustment ideas for academic disciplines and majors, while also arranging and deploying preparatory work for undergraduate education and teaching assessment. Su Rui, the Vice Dean of Academic Research, summarized the previous scientific research work of the school and arranged for this semester's project application, academic activities, high-level conferences, and publishing assistance. Yang Ying, the Vice Dean of Administration, reported on the administrative key tasks for this semester regarding personnel, finance, and logistical support. Dean Cao Ruonan made a thorough analysis of the current national policies on disciplinary adjustments and the difficulties faced by the school. She hoped that all teachers could clarify the direction of professional development, rely on the new trend of area studies and organized scientific research activities in the school to actively explore new teaching and research goals and orientations so as to better adapt to new changes. Secretary Wang Jun, in his concluding remarks, pointed out the significant impact of disciplinary adjustments and artificial intelligence development on our school's academic disciplines. He hoped that all faculty members would make early preparations based on their actual situation. At the same time, he emphasized and deployed key tasks such as ideology and ethics in teaching.

Subsequently, Dean Cao Ruonan presented awards to the winning teams of our school's inaugural Air Volleyball competition. In mid-September, the school union organized the first Air Volleyball competition for faculty and staff. The competition was organized on a departmental basis, with a total of 6 teams comprising over 30 teachers participating. In the end, the team of the School Administration and the Video Education Centre won the championship, the team of English Department secured the runner-up position, and the team of Department 1 of College English Teaching and Research claimed third place.

Since 2022, the school has held work meetings at the beginning of each semester to brief all faculty and staff on the key tasks for the semester. This practice facilitates everyone's understanding of the school's development goals and priorities, further enhancing cohesion, consolidating work tasks, and promoting steady improvement in all areas of work.
