On October 19, 2024, the 4th Chang'an Africa Forum, organized by the Chinese Research Society of African Affairs and Xi'an International Studies University, was held at Xi'an International Studies University. The event was co-hosted by the College of Asia-Africa Studies at Xi'an International Studies University and our school, along with other partner institutions. Nearly a hundred scholars from over twenty universities and research institutions, including the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, the Development Research Center of the State Council, the National University of Defense Technology, East China Normal University, Beijing Foreign Studies University, Communication University of China, Northwest University, and Shanghai University of Social Sciences, attended the forum.
Professor Cao Ruonan, the dean of our school, was invited to attend the keynote forum and delivered an academic report titled “Identity Politics in Language Practice: A Historical Examination Based on the 2011 Egyptian ‘Revolution’.” Faculty representatives from our school also attended, including Professors He Hua, Li Yan, and Ji Weimin, who spoke at the sub-forum on China-Africa Cultural Exchange. Master's students Hu Gang (2023 cohort), Zhang Yiru (2024 cohort), and Zhou Peng (2024 cohort) shared their research topics at the youth sub-forum. Teacher Chen Juan and 2024 MTI students Zong Qin Haochen and Zhang Lingxia also participated in the meeting.
Participation in the 4th Chang'an Africa Forum further strengthened our school's exchange and interaction with other universities nationwide in the field of regional and country studies, bringing new insights and energy for the development of our school's regional studies discipline.
