SFL held all-staff meeting

On the afternoon of November 6, 2024, our school held an all-staff meeting. The members of the Party and administrative leadership team, along with all faculty and staff, attended the meeting, which was chaired by the Secretary of the school's Party Committee Zhao Zhihou. The purpose of the meeting was to thoroughly implement the new requirements of the school's work system, analyze the current situation, and focus on the school’s tasks in areas such as discipline construction, student employment, teaching evaluations, research activities, and administrative management.

At the meeting, the Deputy Party Secretary of the university Liu Jianbo reported on student-related matters, including employment promotion, the Foreign Language and Culture Festival, and the collection of overdue fees. He conveyed national and university policies related to employment, the spirit of relevant meetings, and conducted an in-depth analysis of the employment situation for the graduating class of 2025. He also addressed issues such as the school’s higher proportion of female students and the higher expectations for employment, proposing the next steps in the school's work. He called on everyone at the school to attach great importance to graduates employment, strengthen communication between teachers and students through daily teaching and academic guidance, and guide graduates to adjust their employment mindset, with the collective goal of promoting high-quality and full employment for graduates.

Associate Dean of Teaching Li Ming reported on the key areas of recent teaching work and the progress of teaching evaluations. She also provided specific requirements for daily teaching management: first, to prioritize the organization and standardized management of teaching archives, ensuring a solid foundation for archival work; second, to clarify teachers' teaching standards and responsibilities, maintain good teaching order, foster a positive academic atmosphere, and effectively improve classroom teaching quality.

Associate Dean of Research Su Rui reported on the progress of research projects, degree evaluation, Academic Month activities, and research support. She expressed recognition for the progress in faculty research work this year, encouraging everyone to actively participate in project applications and work toward key breakthroughs in research goals.

Associate Dean of Administration Yang Ying reported on three areas of focus for administrative work. First, in personnel matters: She explained in detail the policies and requirements for the annual title evaluation process, helping faculty and staff better understand the evaluation criteria and procedures, and encouraged teachers to develop clear career development plans based on their individual situations. She also provided updates on the school’s talent recruitment, staff reassignment, probationary evaluations, and annual performance assessments. Second, regarding institutional reforms: She comprehensively explained the university’s policies on personnel management, financial management, contract management, and the leave system for faculty and staff, urging everyone to pay close attention and strictly implement these policies. Finally, on safety and stability: She emphasized that winter is a high-risk period for fires and urged all administrative offices and departments to prioritize fire safety during the winter.

Dean Cao Ruonan summarized the school’s key tasks from three aspects. First, regarding title evaluation and talent work: She provided an in-depth analysis of the key points of title evaluations, encouraging faculty to accumulate achievements, follow the right pace, and achieve their personal development goals as early as possible. She also made arrangements for the next steps in the school’s talent work based on the school’s special meetings. Second, with the keywords “integration” and “initiative,” she encouraged faculty to build academic confidence, use regional and national studies as a platform and opportunity, precisely grasp the direction of academic research, and fully leverage their initiative to maximize the synergistic effects. She also encouraged teachers to actively participate in academic exchange activities and foster a strong spirit of teamwork in research. Third, in line with the reform of faculty performance assessments, she pointed out that improving and reforming the teacher evaluation system is a major trend, and all teachers should align their thinking and work hard to enhance their core competitiveness in the face of new challenges and opportunities.

Finally, the Secretary of the school's Party Committee Zhao Zhihou concluded the meeting. He pointed out that, in light of the reports and work arrangements presented by the Dean and the Party and administrative leadership, all faculty and staff should deeply understand and implement the new requirements of the school’s work system, actively respond to opportunities and challenges, and fully develop academic confidence. Through organized research activities, everyone should work together to strive for new breakthroughs in teaching and research.
