Years of unity, cherishing our glorious past——SFL successfully heldthe Alumni Homecoming Conference and Alumni Homecoming Forum

On July 13th, alumni from classes of 1990, 2000, 2009and 2010 of the SFL, gathered at the Chang’an campus for the 5th Annual Alumni Homecoming Day of Northwest University. The event provided an opportunity to reflect on past achievements, reconnect with old friends, and discuss future developments. The school’s leadership, including party and administrative officials, as well as faculty representatives, attended the event, which was hosted by Zhao Zhihou, the Party Secretary of the SFL.

During the gathering, attendees collectively watched a welcome video from the university’s Party Secretary Jiang Lin and President Sun Qingwei, as well as a special video titled “Emotionally Connected to NWU, Talking About the Splendor.”

Dean Cao Ruonan delivered a speech welcoming and expressing gratitude to alumni for their long-standing support of the school. She provided an overview of the school’s achievements in areas such as discipline construction, research outcomes, teaching reforms, recruitment, and facilities improvements. Dean Cao emphasized that the school’s progress relies on the wisdom and strength of its alumni and highlighted that the well-being and career advancement of alumni are also important concerns for the school. She pledged that the school would continue to promote alumni engagement, establish collaborative platforms, and enhance alumni services.

Feng Chengliang, representing the 2000 alumni, shared memorable experiences related to academic study and campus cultural activities. He expressed sincere blessings and gratitude towards the alma mater. He also offered valuable suggestions for the school’s development in areas such as industry cooperation, external promotion, and alumni networking. He vowed to uphold the school motto “Fairness, Integrity, Diligence and Simplicity,” and, alongside fellow alumni, to remain true to their initial aspirations and continue to contribute to national development.

Following this, alumni representatives presented flowers to faculty members as a token of respect and appreciation.

Professor Wang Aifen, a representative of retired teachers, spoke about her sense of happiness and fulfillment as an educator. She emphasized that education is not only about imparting knowledge but also about igniting students’ inner passions and guiding them towards a bright future. Professor Wang extended her heartfelt wishes to the school, and hoped it would continuously innovate its educational philosophy and model, produce more socially responsible, innovative, and capable talents, and strengthen ties and cooperation with alumni and various social sectors to foster the school’s growth.

In closing, Secretary Zhao Zhihou extended blessings to all alumni and expressed gratitude for their support of the school’s development. He highlighted that students from the SFL are at a new historical starting point, tasked with the dual responsibilities of inheritance and innovation. He called for everyone to work together, support each other, and continuously write new, magnificent chapters with the wisdom and effort of our predecessors from Northwest University and the School of Foreign Languages, and achieve new accomplishments on the new journey. He also encouraged alumni to visit the alma mater more often, integrate their deep feelings for the school with their personal achievements, and collaborate with the university to create a harmonious and prosperous future.

After the main event, the alumni engaged in class-specific discussions, and reminiscing about their youth and expressing gratitude to their alma mater. This event aimed to further the school’s commitment to serving and uniting the alumni, and to advance the future development and growth of the institution in collaboration with its alumni.
