2025 English (Country and Region Studies Experimental Class) Academic Advisor Meeting Successfully Held

On the evening of September 28, 2025, at 7:00 p.m., the Advising Session for the 2025 Cohort of the English (Country and Region Studies Experimental Class) of the School of Foreign Languages was successfully convened in Room N0904, West Campus Building, Chang’an Campus. Chaired by Cao Ruonan, Dean of the School of Foreign Languages, the session was attended by Li Fuquan, Deputy Dean of the School of Country and Region Studies, all academic advisors, Li Tie, Head of the Department of English, academic coordinators, counselors, relevant administrative staff, and all 20 students of the experimental class.

In the opening address, Dean Cao Ruonan outlined the overall design of the talent development program and the language course arrangements for the experimental class. She highlighted that the program was jointly crafted by the School of Foreign Languages and the School of Country and Region Studies through extensive deliberation. Aligned with the university’s talent development objectives, the curriculum is designed to meet interdisciplinary demands, incorporating general education courses, core foreign language subjects, and specialized courses in Country and Region Studies. Its objective is to cultivate well-rounded talents equipped with both linguistic proficiency and academic rigor through a structured and high-standard educational framework.

Following this, , Deputy Dean Li Fuquan elaborated on the overall planning of the country and region studies curriculum and the structure of the academic advisory system. He stressed that as part of the University President’s Initiative, the experimental class is built with high standards, a strong foundation, and significant investment. It adopts a “one-on-one” advising system, under which 20 advisors provide comprehensive and personalized academic guidance to students throughout their studies.

During the advisor introduction segment, each academic advisor gave a brief speech, introducing their research fields and scholarly achievements. They warmly encouraged students to actively engage in research projects and academic teams, and expressed their strong expectation for in-depth communication and joint growth with the students.

Subsequently, faculty members involved in the teaching and student management of the experimental class also gave brief self-introductions. They unanimously pledged to fully support students’ academic development and ensure the effective day-to-day management and operational support of the program.

In the final part of the meeting, faculty and students engaged in an open discussion on academic planning and future development. This session laid a solid foundation for enhancing faculty-student interaction and strengthening academic advising, marking a new stage in the talent training of the Country and Region Studies Experimental Class.
