On November 20, 2025, the 7th Shaanxi province Silk Road Forum of Young Scholars grandly opened in Xi’an. Organized by the Provincial Party Committee Organization Department and hosted by Northwest University, the forum attracted young scholars and several academicians and experts from around the world, making it a key annual international talent‑exchange event in the province. To ensure the quality of international communication and meet the needs for multilingual exchange, our school selected a team of professional faculty members to provide translation support for the forum, systematically demonstrating the school’s achievements in cultivating multilingual talent and its capacity for international service.
In the language services for this forum, the School of Foreign Languages undertook the English and Russian translation tasks for the core segments of the conference. Among them, teachers Xu Na, Li Yan, and Ji Weimin were responsible for English translation in the main venue and various exchange sessions, providing accurate, standardized, and reliable language support for the forum handbook and the opening ceremony procedures. Teachers Mei Zilin, Cai Hongyan, and Liu Hui handled Russian translation, offering communication support for guests from Central Asia. Additionally, Teacher Mei Zilin provided consecutive interpretation services in a sub‑forum, earning high recognition from participating experts for his professional performance.
This forum focused on topics such as cooperation opportunities between Central Asia and Shaanxi, talent strategies, economic development, educational resources, and technological innovation. It holds significant importance for the province’s efforts to build globally influential education, science, and talent hubs. The high‑level, multilingual, and international nature of the conference placed greater demands on the quality of language services. Throughout the language service process, the team from the School of Foreign Languages completed the translation tasks with a rigorous work ethic, solid language proficiency, and extensive conference experience. They provided robust language support for the smooth progress of the forum, fully demonstrating the School’s professional strength in multilingual translation, cross‑cultural communication, and language services for large‑scale events.
The School of Foreign Languages has always regarded serving national strategies and regional development needs as a key direction for its disciplinary development. Undertaking the language service tasks for this forum not only reflects the quality of talent cultivation in the School but also represents an important practice in actively integrating into Shaanxi’s talent‑strengthening strategy and enhancing the province’s international exchange capabilities. In the future, the School will continue to leverage its multilingual advantages, steadily improve its capabilities in international academic exchange and language services, and contribute more “Northwest University strength” to Shaanxi’s opening‑up and high‑level talent exchanges.
