On the afternoon of March 11, 2026, our school held a school-wide meeting for the new semester. Members of the school’s Party and administrative leadership team, along with all faculty and staff, attended the meeting. Dean Cao Ruonan made a comprehensive plan for the school’s work in the new semester, other leaders arranged their respective areas of responsibility, and the Party Secretary chaired the meeting and delivered a speech.
First, Li Ming, Associate Dean of Teaching, outlined undergraduate teaching work for the new semester. She emphasized strict attention to teaching details and quality, aiming to enhance teaching efficiency and effectiveness through rigor and innovation. She stated that the school would focus on the university's “Fifteenth Five-Year Plan” undergraduate teaching indicators, striving to achieve a breakthrough in national first-class courses within the next five years, secure provincial-level curriculum-based political education demonstration courses, obtain provincial-level teaching achievement awards, and initiate provincial-level teaching reform projects. She also stressed that preparations for the Teaching Innovation Competition should begin early, with planning and refinement to encourage teachers to actively participate and strive for outstanding results.
Subsequently, the Deputy Party Secretary of the university Liu Jianbo outlined arrangements for student work in the new semester. He emphasized adhering to the fundamental task of fostering virtue through education, implementing the approach of “one center, two main lines, three supports, four enhancements.” This involves focusing on nurturing character, maintaining a bottom line of safety and stability, and strengthening academic integrity as the foundation. It relies on key projects to reinforce support, aiming to enhance the effectiveness of ideological and political education, initiative in professional learning, professionalism of the student affairs team, and students’ competitiveness in employment. He highlighted that in 2026, efforts will focus on ideological guidance, online political education, role model selection, academic integrity building, and employment services to comprehensively improve student work.
He Hua, Associate Dean of Research, focused on the priorities for research work in the new semester. She proposed fostering the development of young faculty as a starting point, targeting key projects as breakthroughs, and supporting research with team building to drive the school’s overall research development. The school will provide strong support for research services and resource connections, encouraging all teachers to adopt a unified approach, develop collaboratively, and tackle challenges together to advance research efforts to a new level.
Yang Ying, Associate Dean of Administration, outlined administrative work from four aspects: personnel services, preparation for professional title reviews, talent recruitment and recommendations, and alignment of faculty assessments. She also reported on the progress of applications for ‘two major and two new’ projects, indicating continuous efforts. Additionally, the school will continue to deepen alumni connections and leverage alumni strength to support the school's development.
Dean Cao Ruonan comprehensively arranged the overall work for the school in the new semester. Focusing on the sharing of resources, platforms, and achievements, she emphasized that in 2026, the school must consolidate efforts to produce high-quality results. She also noted that the comprehensive development of the school requires full participation and collaboration from all faculty members. Facing new circumstances, she called for changing direction to seek opportunities and development. In teaching, she encouraged active participation in high-level competitions such as the Young Faculty Teaching Competition and Classroom Teaching Innovation Competition to promote teaching excellence through competition. In research, she stressed the need for firm conviction and scientific planning, advocating for development through wisdom and breakthroughs through careful planning. Dean Cao urged all faculty members to integrate their personal development into the broader goals of the school and to drive high-quality development through unity and practical efforts.
Finally, Party Secretary Zhao Zhihou delivered a concluding speech, thoroughly conveying the spirit of the Third Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and the requirements of the university’s Fifteenth Five-Year Plan,” while outlining the key work of the school’s Party Committee. He emphasized that all teachers must adhere to the fundamental task of fostering virtue through education, dedicating themselves to education with a strong sense of responsibility and mission, staying true to their original aspirations, and bravely shouldering their responsibilities. He also called on all faculty and staff to fulfill their duties in their respective roles, contributing to a new chapter in the development of the school and the university through concrete actions. Meanwhile, he stated that the school’s Party Committee would continue to strengthen service awareness, deeply understand faculty needs, diligently address urgent concerns, and provide solid political and service support for the growth of faculty and the long-term development of the school.
