SFL Holds Progress Promotion Meeting for African Translation Series Project

On the afternoon of January 14, 2026, the Progress Promotion Meeting for the African Translation Series Project was held in the college conference room on the 5th floor of West Campus Building. The meeting was chaired by Dean Cao Ruonan, with 28 faculty members participating in the project. The meeting focused on in-depth communication and exchange regarding the progress of translation work, feedback on issues, and academic development.

At the meeting, Dean Cao Ruonan began by taking the national development strategy and disciplinary development trends as the starting point, profoundly elaborating on the significance of the African Translation Series Project in expanding the academic development paths and enhancing the academic research levels of the participating faculty, thereby laying an ideological foundation for the project's advancement. Subsequently, the faculty members of the project team reported respectively on the progress of their translations, providing detailed feedback on a series of issues encountered during the translation process, such as formatting specifications and map annotations. In response to the questions raised by the faculty, Dean Cao provided on-site answers and guidance, while arranging for staff to meticulously record the issues, clarifying that subsequent special communication and coordination with the publishing house would be conducted regarding these matters.

Finally, Dean Cao, integrating the college’s “Fifteenth Five-Year Plan” development goals with the actual needs of faculty’s scientific research development, emphatically stated that the African Translation Series Project is not only an important translation task but also a crucial lever for the college to deepen its regional and country-specific studies. She encouraged the faculty members of the project team to firmly grasp this significant opportunity, using the translation work as a starting point to not only complete the translation outcomes with high standards but also to deeply explore and excavate the research themes behind the translations, precisely anchoring the direction of academic research, thereby achieving a two-way empowerment and coordinated advancement of translation work and scientific research development. The participating faculty members expressed that they would strictly follow the project’s established plan, steadily advance all aspects of the translation work, and ensure the timely completion of the translation tasks in batches with high quality.
