On the afternoon of March 25, the School of Foreign Languages held the 2026 Annual Work Conference on the Development of Key Research Teams. The conference was presided over by Professor Cao Ruonan, Dean of the School, and He Hua, Vice Dean of the School, with the leaders of all key research teams and relevant faculty members in attendance.

At the conference, the School made systematic arrangements for the development goals and growth paths of research teams for the new year. Professor Cao Ruonan noted that the School will focus on building four key research teams going forward, namely the Research Team on Regional Literature, Culture and Country Studies, the Research Team on Country-Specific Issues in South and Central Asia, the Research Team on International Communication and Multilingual Interpretation of China, and the Research Team on Regional Literature Translation Studies. She also elaborated on the development foundation, research focus, and 2026 annual work plan of each team.

She emphasized that key research teams are critical carriers for the School to elevate its research capacity and refine its disciplinary characteristics. She put forward four requirements: first, to further clarify research priorities and closely align them with national strategies and regional development needs; second, to strengthen team collaboration, and promote interdisciplinary integration and resource pooling; third, to focus on the output of high-quality achievements, and strive for breakthroughs in high-level projects and landmark research outcomes; fourth, to step up the training of young faculty members, so as to form a well-structured, rationally echeloned and sustainable development pattern for research teams.

Associate Professor He Hua stated that all teams should take this conference as an opportunity to refine their annual tasks, improve their operation mechanisms, advance the in-depth and solid development of team building, and continuously enhance the overall research competitiveness and social service capacity of the School.

The conference has clarified the direction and built consensus for the 2026 research work of the School of Foreign Languages, and laid a solid foundation for the high-quality development of its key research teams.
