On the afternoon of April 10, 2026, a five-member delegation led by Wang Na, Dean of the School of Foreign Languages at Zhongnan University of Economics and Law, visited our School for a themed research event in Academic Seminar Room 716. The meeting was chaired by Cao Ruonan, Dean of our School, with Vice Dean Yang Ying, Mei Zilin, Director of the Russian Department, and Wang Yihan, student counselor, in attendance. The two sides held in-depth discussions on core topics including foreign language discipline development, new talent cultivation paradigms, and the development of Country and Region Studies Pilot Program.
Dean Cao Ruonan first extended a warm welcome to Dean Wang Na and her delegation. She gave a systematic overview of the School’s fundamentals, development direction and core strengths, covering its development history, undergraduate program layout, Country and Region Studies Pilot Program development, and faculty structure optimization. Subsequently, Dean Wang Na elaborated on the educational positioning, distinctive program features and development plans of her School. She noted that this research visit aimed to learn from our School’s proven experience in discipline development, talent cultivation and Country and Region Studies Undergraduate Pilot Program development, to advance mutual progress for both sides.
In the interactive session, the two sides conducted full exchanges on key issues including the development direction of foreign language disciplines in the new era, reform on college foreign language education and teaching, micro-major development mechanisms, talent cultivation scheme optimization, and Country and Region Studies Undergraduate Pilot Program development. Drawing on practical work experience, Dean Cao Ruonan shared the School’s specific initiatives in research team building, college English teaching reform, Country and Region Studies Pilot Program development and faculty structure optimization, as well as approaches to interdisciplinary talent cultivation and experience in organizing academic competitions, providing actionable, referable solutions for the delegation. Vice Dean Yang Ying briefed the delegation on the School’s faculty team development; Director Mei Zilin and Ms. Wang Yihan gave detailed introductions on curriculum development, international exchange and cooperation, improvement of student employment and postgraduate admission outcomes, and the training model of the Country and Region Studies undergraduate Pilot Program. The on-site discussion was held in a warm and pragmatic atmosphere.
The forum concluded successfully in a relaxed and harmonious atmosphere, with both sides reaping significant benefits. This inter-university exchange has not only built a high-quality platform for mutual learning and experience sharing, but also forged broad consensus on the joint development of foreign language education, laying a solid foundation for deeper cooperation between the two schools in talent cultivation, discipline development, program innovation and distinctive growth in the future. Looking ahead, both sides will take this opportunity to strengthen ongoing ties, jointly explore new approaches to high-quality development of foreign language education, and advance the common progress of foreign language education initiatives.
