On the afternoon of April 16, 2026, Zhang Hua, General Manager of the Education Division of Transn Internet of Languages Technology Co., Ltd. (Transn IOL), was invited to deliver a lecture themed Language Talent Cultivation Driven by Digital-Intelligent Transformation and Industry-Education Integration to the 2025 cohort of MTI (Master of Translation and Interpreting) postgraduate students at Lecture Hall 2. The lecture conducted an in-depth discussion on new paths and opportunities for university talent cultivation amid the digital-intelligent transformation of the language service industry. It was moderated by Associate Professor Zhang Liyin from the School of Foreign Languages. Professor Zhang Liyin first introduced Mr. Zhang Hua’s professional background, and the students extended a warm welcome to his visit.

At the start of the lecture, Mr. Zhang Hua took the development practice of Transn IOL as the entry point to present a full picture of the digital-intelligent transformation in the language service industry. He introduced that the self-developed Transn IOL platform can lift translation efficiency by more than 10 times, fully demonstrating the huge potential of technology empowerment for language services.

Subsequently, against the backdrop of current digital economy development, Mr. Zhang analyzed the wide application of AIGC technology in diverse scenarios including text creation, audio production and customer service, as well as the transformation direction for higher education institutions outlined in the Action Plan for “Artificial Intelligence + Education” jointly issued by the Ministry of Education and four other national departments. He pointed out that digital-intelligent transformation has become a broad consensus in the international education sector. Universities must advance curriculum system restructuring, teaching model innovation and infrastructure upgrading in a coordinated manner, to empower the whole process of teaching and research preparation, learning situation management and talent cultivation with digital intelligence.

Regarding the development trend of language majors, Mr. Zhang noted that traditional application-oriented majors focusing solely on single translation skills are on the decline, while the “Foreign Language +” model has become the mainstream transformation path. The goal of university talent cultivation should shift from training translators to nurturing “interlocutors of civilizational dialogue” with cross-language logical thinking, cultural understanding and technical ethics. He advised students to focus on the “Foreign Language + X” model to achieve competency transfer, follow the fast iterative path of mastering AI tools and participating in project practice, and build long-term competitiveness that will not become obsolete amid technological changes.

At the end of the lecture, Mr. Zhang systematically introduced the industry-education integration practice system built by Transn IOL. The system covers micro-major online courses including Introduction to Artificial Intelligence, Application of AI Intelligent Translation Technology and International Translation Project Management, as well as a three-tier practice framework of cognitive internship, professional internship and project-based internship. All internship materials in the system are sourced from real commercial projects, with digital positions such as cross-language AI trainer and digital cultural tourism planner open to students, providing them with access to real industrial scenarios and seamless employment pathways.

The interactive Q&A session featured a warm atmosphere. Teachers and students present actively raised questions on the integration of AI tools into translation classroom teaching, cross-industry career planning for foreign language majors, and the application process for industry-education integration internship programs. Combining corporate practice and university cooperation cases, Mr. Zhang gave detailed and pragmatic responses to each question, and encouraged teachers and students to proactively embrace technological changes and accumulate practical industry experience through hands-on practice.

This lecture closely integrated technological change, policy orientation, industrial demand and talent cultivation, providing teachers and students of the School of Foreign Languages with a valuable perspective on the cutting edge of the industry. In her closing remarks, Associate Professor Zhang Liyin expressed sincere gratitude to Mr. Zhang Hua, and hoped that teachers and students would take this lecture as an opportunity to actively explore new paths for the integrated development of “Foreign Language + Digital Intelligence”, find their clear positioning amid the wave of digital-intelligent transformation, and stand at the forefront of the times.
