To implement the university’s arrangements for National Social Science Foundation (NSSF) project applications, SFL held the 2026 NSSF Project Proposal Review Meeting in Room 503 of the School on the afternoon of May 20, 2026. Zhang Bi, Professor and Doctoral Supervisor in Comparative Literature and World Literature at the School of Liberal Arts, Northwest University, was invited to serve as the review expert. He Hua, Associate Dean of Research of SFL, presided over the meeting.
The meeting focused on revising proposal texts and addressed practical issues faculty encountered in project applications. Regarding problems such as insufficiently highlighted argumentation, unclear research approaches, and a framework hierarchy needing optimization, Professor Zhang analyzed the causes and offered specific revision suggestions. During the exchange session, participating faculty raised with the expert their concerns about topic adjustment, research focus, content selection, and presentation of prior achievements. Professor Zhang responded carefully and, in light of NSSF application requirements and key review concerns, provided targeted and actionable guidance, offering clear direction for improving application materials. Faculty said they would continue polishing their proposals based on the expert’s suggestions, further refine research questions, optimize argumentation structures, and improve application text quality.
Going forward, SFL will continue to strengthen the organization and service of research project applications, focus on faculty research development needs, build platforms for expert guidance and exchange, and continuously improve the quality of the School’s research project applications and research work.
