To further consolidate translation quality, standardize manuscript editing, and advance the output of the African Translation Series, SFL held a special collective proofreading meeting in the School conference room at 2 p.m. on August 28, 2026. Dean Cao Ruonan chaired the meeting, and all project team faculty attended, focusing on improving proofreading quality and transforming research outcomes.

Dean Cao began by outlining the importance and quality standards of the translation work. She noted that the African Translation Series is an important vehicle for the School’s disciplinary development and that translation quality is central to the project. All team members must strictly follow translation standards, polish language details, and ensure content accuracy to produce high-quality translations. She also stressed integrating translation with research and promoting research through translation, encouraging faculty to refine research topics based on the project, activate its academic resources, and strive for high-quality research outcomes. SFL will fully support the project by coordinating quality resources such as foreign faculty and specialized literature.

After the meeting, project faculty divided into seven groups and moved to the teaching and research offices of College English Teaching and Research Sections 1 and 2 to proofread draft translations. Each group strictly followed academic translation and publishing standards, taking turns reviewing text format, writing conventions, language expression, and specialized terminology, and actively exchanged views on translation difficulties and practical experience. Through mutual discussion and learning, they unified translation standards, effectively improving the standardization and professionalism of the drafts and laying a solid foundation for subsequent revision and finalization.
