To strictly control translation quality for the African Translation Series project, accurately identify proofreading issues in drafts, refine follow-up arrangements, and steadily advance the editing and publication of translated works, SFL held a translation proofreading feedback meeting for the African Translation Series in the School conference room at 2:20 p.m. on September 2, 2026. Dean Cao Ruonan chaired the meeting, and all project team faculty attended.
The meeting reviewed the results of the earlier collective proofreading of draft translations and served as a key phased meeting for improving project quality and efficiency. The project team had previously completed group-based collective proofreading, with teachers in each group dividing tasks, collaborating, and carefully checking to comprehensively identify problems in the drafts. At the meeting, teachers from each group spoke in turn, providing comprehensive and detailed feedback based on actual group proofreading, focusing on and collectively reporting detailed issues in the table of contents arrangement, layout and formatting, punctuation standards, and citations. Next, they will unify rectification approaches and further refine standards in line with translation norms and academic standards.
After the group reports, Dean Cao affirmed the results of the draft proofreading, summarized and commented on existing problems, and arranged follow-up work. She stressed that all team faculty should take the feedback as an important basis, maintain a problem-oriented approach, strive for excellence, implement rectifications item by item, finely polish translation content, standardize layout, correct translation details, and comprehensively improve the professionalism, standardization, and rigor of the translated works to ensure high-quality completion. They should also prepare in an orderly manner for African translation workshop activities and build an academic exchange platform to provide strong support for the project’s continued deepening and long-term advancement.
