To further improve the introduction and management of international faculty, help newly appointed international faculty quickly understand the School and clarify teaching management requirements, and better engage in teaching in the new semester, SFL held a welcome meeting for newly appointed international faculty for the first semester of the 2026-2027 academic year in the conference room on the fifth floor of West Campus Building on the morning of September 2. Party and administrative leaders of the School, department heads, the foreign affairs secretary, and all newly appointed international faculty attended.

Dean Cao Ruonan first extended a warm welcome to the four new international faculty members: Mumni Jiyum, Ke Meishan, Stacy Carr, and Alexei Sukhov. Dean Cao briefly introduced the School’s positioning, disciplinary development, talent cultivation, and international exchanges, hoping the faculty would give full play to their professional strengths, actively participate in classroom teaching and salon activities, and support the School’s international talent cultivation. She also hoped they would adapt quickly to work and life and have a rewarding experience at the School. Secretary Zhao Zhihou explained policies and regulations on daily management of international faculty, detailing teaching standards, work requirements, and daily management, clarifying rights and responsibilities, and stating that the School will fully provide support services for their teaching and research.

The new international faculty then introduced themselves in turn, sharing their educational backgrounds, research directions, and ideas for teaching in the new semester. They expressed enthusiasm for the upcoming teaching work and willingness to actively participate in the School’s academic salons and engage in diverse exchanges with faculty and students. During the Q&A and free exchange session, they raised questions about teaching tasks and campus work and life, which the attending leaders and staff answered one by one in a friendly atmosphere.
The meeting built a good platform for communication, helped the new international faculty fully understand the School’s rules and regulations, and brought them closer to the School. Next, SFL will continue to optimize the management and service support for international faculty, give full play to their resource advantages, and continuously promote high-quality development of the School’s internationalized teaching and academic exchange.
