September is the month for promoting professional ethics and conduct of teachers at our university. Focusing on the theme of Teachers’ Day this year, “Vigorously promoting the spirit of educators and jointly fostering a social trend of respecting teachers and valuing education,” on the afternoon of September 9, the Party Committee and the Trade Union of our school organized representatives of faculty and staff members to visit the Xi’an Model Worker Spirit Exhibition Hall.
Model workers are the elite of the nation, role models for the people, and meritorious figures of the Republic. As pioneers of the times, model workers have written magnificent chapters in the history of the Republic through their labor in different periods and at different posts. At the exhibition hall, the teachers listened attentively to the explanations and learned about the stories of model workers from different periods and fields in our country, such as Wang Jinxi, Shi Chuanxiang, Deng Jiaxian, Yuan Longping, Zhao Mengtao, Zhang Guimei, and Hou Boyu, as well as the touching deeds of model worker families. The teachers especially paused for a long time in front of the exhibition board of Hou Boyu to commemorate this master figure in the field of physics at NWU.
This activity is one of the series of educational and publicity activities on teacher ethics and conduct of our school, and also one of the measures of the “Cultivating Morality, Dedicating to Work, Loving Teaching, and Caring for Students” teacher ethics cultivation and enhancement project organized by the Trade Union of the School of Foreign Languages. After the visit, the teachers expressed that this activity deeply impressed upon them the spiritual strength of model workers. They stated that in their respective positions of teaching, research, administration, and educational technology, they will strive for excellence, practice good teacher ethics and conduct, and embody a spirit of practical work and innovation.
Currently, our school is at a critical stage of the initial development of the 15th Five-Year Plan. To strengthen the school, we must first strengthen the faculty. It is necessary to rely on the diligent and creative work of all faculty and staff members, promote the spirit of model workers and the spirit of craftsmanship, and firmly remember the mission of cultivating talent for the Party and the country.
