Professor Barbara Onnis is a Full Professor of History and Institutions of Asia in the Department of Political and Social Sciences at the University of Cagliari, Italy, and a Visiting Scholar at the Institute of Global Public Policy, Fudan University. She teaches master's courses in International Relations, namely “Contemporary China” and “International Politics of Asia”, and serves as Vice President of the Italian Society for International History. Her research focuses on China's foreign policy and historical continuity since the late Qing Dynasty, with key attention to issues such as the Shanghai Concessions, the identity transformation of Hong Kong, Olympic Diplomacy, and cross-Strait relations.
