On the afternoon of October 25, 2023, He Aijun, a distinguished professor and doctoral supervisor at Ocean University of China, an expert in the evaluation in degree and postgraduate education appointed by the Ministry of Education, and an expert in the review and appraisal for the National Social Science Foundation projects and the late-stage funding projects, was invited to our school's “Expert Lecture”. He delivered a lecture titled Principles and Methods of Interdisciplinary Research in Translation. The lecture was hosted by Associate Dean Su Rui from the School of Foreign Languages, and was attended by over 150 faculty and students from both within and outside the university.
During the lecture, Professor He Aijun discussed the necessity of interdisciplinary research from the perspectives of contemporary topics, academic propositions, and real-world issues. Professor He defined and distinguished concepts such as interdisciplinary, multidisciplinary, and transdisciplinary research, and used translation geography as a case study to explore the basic principles and methodological approaches of interdisciplinary research.
Throughout the lecture, Professor He Aijun engaged in discussions and exchanges with the faculty and students present regarding various aspects of interdisciplinary research in translation. The lecture enhanced the understanding and comprehension of interdisciplinary research in translation among the faculty and students, and fostered further communication and discussion on the topic.
