To systematically enhance the core scientific research competitiveness of its teachers and provide targeted support for the application of the 2026 National Social Science Foundation (NSSF) projects, the School of Foreign Languages (SFL) held the “Second Preliminary Application Demonstration Meeting for 2026 NSSF Projects” on the afternoon of November 13, 2025. Professor Huo Shifu from Xi'an Jiaotong University was specially invited to provide on-site guidance for the meeting. Su Rui, Associate Dean of Research of the school, and teachers intending to apply for the projects attended the meeting, which was presided over by Associate Dean Su Rui.

In her welcome speech, Associate Dean Su Rui expressed sincere gratitude to Professor Huo Shifu for taking time out of his busy schedule to provide guidance. She pointed out that topic selection and demonstration constitute a crucial cornerstone for the success of project applications, and this meeting would focus on deepening the demonstration of the core of topic selection, building on the clarification of topic directions achieved in the first demonstration meeting. The participating teachers mainly reported on the core elements of their application projects, including the basis for topic selection, problem awareness, and innovative value. Professor Huo Shifu carefully listened to each teacher's presentation and conducted systematic and in-depth comments, focusing on the academic cutting-edge nature, theoretical appropriateness, and practical significance of the topics. With his profound academic accumulation, he accurately analyzed the potential value and possible deficiencies of each topic, and put forward constructive optimization directions on how to strengthen the problem-oriented approach and highlight research characteristics. Through Professor Huo's guidance, the teachers gained a deeper understanding of the positioning and academic value of their project topics.

Subsequently, Associate Dean Su Rui once again expressed her gratitude to Professor Huo Shifu on behalf of the school for his meticulous guidance. She emphasized that this meeting closely focused on the key link of topic selection and demonstration and achieved remarkable results. In the follow-up, the school will organize teachers to fully absorb the experts' opinions, further refine and optimize the topics, effectively improve the quality of applications, lay a solid foundation for the successful approval of projects, and continuously promote the high-quality development of the school's scientific research work.
